Professor James Powell

Pro Vice Chancellor for Enterprise and Regional Affairs at Salford University, Professor James Powell is a leading academic in the fields of engineering research, and education and science. His personal interests over the past 30 years have been concerned with improving the relationship between industry and academia for their mutual benefit.

Originally a Chartered European Engineer and a former Director of Academic Enterprise (AE), Professor Powell created the University of Salford's unique attempt to form meaningful, wealth creating and socially inclusive partnerships with industry, business, the civil and voluntary services and the community at large.

Professor James A Powell was awarded the OBE in 1996 for 'services to science and to engineering / research and education.'
